Text 1
W: Hello, Bob. Jack and I will hold our wedding party next Sunday. We’d like you to come.
M: Congratulations. I’d like to go very much, but I’ll have an exam on Monday and an essay due
on Wednesday.
Text 2
W: There is a limit of three books each person, but you took four books.
M: Thank you for telling me this. I’ll drop this one and be certain to return the other three on time.
Text 3
W: Dr. Smith, this is Linda. Those stretching exercises you recommended are really helping with
my back pain. But the pills you prescribed, I think, they are giving me a headache.
M: That’s not unusual. Let’s try cutting back to just one a day, all right
Text 4
M: I see that your roommate Donna is editor of the newspaper this year.
W: Editor, yes, but I’ve hardly seen her since the beginning of the term. She might as well move
her bed over to the newspaper office.
Text 5
W: This is a pretty small room to be sharing with someone. Don’t you find it a little crowded
M: Well, I’m used to being a little crowded. I grew up with six brothers, remember
Text 6
M: Hello, Catherine. Have you been to the new sports center yet
W: Not yet, George. Where is it
M: On Mango Street, you know, near the 118 bus stop.
W: I see. Is it good
M: You can do lots of sports. I played badminton last Friday and watched the table tennis match
there, too.
W: What about swimming
M: There is a great swimming pool there, too. Do you want to go with me next week
W: Sure. Any day except Thursday.
M: Well, why don’t we go on Wednesday There is a discount that day.
W: OK. Let’s meet after school.
Text 7
W: It’s a lovely day out today, isn’t it
M: It’s beautiful. Enjoy it while it lasts. It’s supposed to snow early tomorrow morning and then
tomorrow afternoon there’s a chance of freezing rain.
W: That doesn’t sound pretty. Do you have any plans for tomorrow
M: Well, I am going to see some friends in the morning and go to the movies in the afternoon.
What about you
W: I just have to go to class tomorrow afternoon.
Text 8
W: Hello, I’d like some information about your trip to Hawaii.
M: Yes, of course. What kind of information can I provide for you
W: Well, how do we travel
M: We’ll fly since it is fast and efficient. When we get there, we will have a special coach for you,
so you needn’t pay extra to rent a car.
W: How many people are there in a group
M: 30 people.
W: So many. Is there any smaller group I had hoped I could enjoy the beautiful scenery and relax
completely instead of waiting for other people to get together.
M: Yes. There is a smaller group of 10 people, but the fee is a bit higher.
W: OK. The only thing I care about is whether I can have a comfortable and relaxing vacation.
Next, where shall we depart
M: We’ll leave from London, and return to London.
Text 9
W: Today’s guest is Martin Middleton. He has given us hours of interest and entertainment over
the years, with his weekly series of wildlife programs. Martin, you’ve been to the four corners
of the Earth in search of material. Where did this love of adventure come from
M: Well, I read about the East as a child and was fascinated by it. Then, when I was about 12, I
met someone who’d been to Singapore, and to me that seemed incredible. Of course, when I
started in television, back in the early 1960s, you didn’t travel to make a wildlife program —
you went along and filmed at the local zoo. So, when I said I’d like to go and film in Africa,
the Head of Programs just laughed at me.
W: And, did you go to Africa
M: On that occasion, no! But I eventually got them to allow me to go to Borneo in 1962. There
was just me and a cameraman. We went off for four months, filming wherever we saw
something interesting. Nowadays, of course, it’s all quite different.
W: Different In what way
M: We do months of preparation before we set off, so when we start filming, we know exactly
what scenes we want to get. I mean, you don’t get up in the morning and say to your team,
“What shall we do this morning ” You have to know exactly what each scene is going to show
— to work to a strict plan.
Text 10
M: South Korea has the most effective education system in the world’s richest countries, with
Japan in second place and the USA and Germany near the bottom, a United Nations study said
on Tuesday. The ranking provides the comparison of the relative effectiveness of education
systems across the developed world.
The study is based not on testing how many students reach what level of education, but
on testing what pupils actually know and what they are able to do, including their abilities in
reading, math and science.
Germany, despite its strong education tradition, occupies 19th place out of the 24 nations,
just behind the United States in 18th place.
An American government official said, “Our schools are simply not good enough and
they don’t compare well with systems in other countries.”
“It is clear that educational disadvantage is born not at school but in the home,” said the
report. “Learning begins at birth and is encouraged by a loving, stimulating (激励人的 )
environment.”
根据 Day 1部分中的“Arrive in Cape Town on a Sunday”和 Day 2部分“You
will be collected bright and early from the guest house and taken down to the project... head out to
sea to witness your first sharks”可知,真正的鲨鱼观赏之旅是在周一。
根据Day 3+部分中的“Most days you will be out on the boat with the sharks”
故选 A。
根据文中的“Take a two-week trip” “The price is 829” “Your trip can be
extended at a cost of 375 per week”可知,两周的旅行费用是 829英镑,之后每延长一周,费
根据文章第三段中的“After I had read my favorite book I began
to seek ‘good things’ in other people”和“Another important lesson I got from this book is that I
should always behave myself in a positive manner”和第四段中的“One more valuable lesson I got
from the book is that I should be a good listener”可知,《秘密》这本书改变了作者的人生态度,
故选 C项。
根据第二段中的“My father is the person who constantly looks for
mistakes in other people and he thinks no one is perfect in the world”可知,作者的父亲是一个不
根据画线词前的“When I was younger ... I was very proud and
would show off my achievements in school without considering others' feelings”可知,作者以前
Perhaps the ecological
definition better explains it,其中“it”指代的是前一句中的“competition”。
容解释“the ecological definition”。
故选 A项。
根据最后一段中的“Healthy, friendly competition can have only
benefits, but when it becomes too fierce, jealousy (妒忌) can tear friendship apart”可知,健康的、
between students exists in all aspects of high school life”可知,作者认为高中生活的各个方面存
outlets (电源插座) to smart smoke alarms are flooding the market”可知,从智能电源插座到智能
more human-like form ... neither male nor female”点明该段主题;据此可知,大多数参与者想
根据第四段第二句“They wanted an AI assistant that was
38.解析:选 AC 根据上文中的“But in our changing world, a job is a set of duties or tasks. It
can be paid or unpaid”可知,在不断变化的世界里,我们对工作的认识有所变化,且根据空前
“It can be paid or unpaid”的句式结构可知选 AC。

over the last decade表示“在过去十年”,常和现在完成时连用,
both ... and ...
stop to do sth.
stop doing sth.

hear about/of“听说,得知”,不符合语境。
take pride in...
根据前面的“There are many”可知,此处应用名词
用 a。
advanced。
AHiking Activity
Our school held a hiking activity last Sunday, which has a great effect
on my study and life.
It was at 6 o’clock that we set off in order. In the beginning, we
walked all the way, chatting and singing. After a while, some students
were so tired that they couldn’t keep up with their classmates. What
moved me most was that they didn’t give up, but helped each other to the
end. Four hours later, we all made it to our destination
In my opinion, the activity relieved our mental pressure. More
importantly, we had a good chance to strengthen our will, which will
leave a happy experience in our youthful memories.

SHARK CONSERVATION IN SOUTHAFRICA
Take a two-week trip that you will never forget as a volunteer with sharks on a beautiful stretch of
South Africa’s coastline. Head out to sea to witness one of the world’s most powerful (and most
misunderstood) creatures on this inspiring project, enjoying watching them from both above and below
water.
The DAY-BY-DAY schedule
Day 1: Arrive in Cape Town on a Sunday. You will be collected from the airport and spend your first
night in a guest house in the city centre.
Day 2: You will be collected bright and early from the guest house and taken down to the project.
The drive takes about 90 minutes. You will receive a welcome and head out to sea to witness your first
sharks!
Day 3+: Most days you will be out on the boat with the sharks, depending on weather. Help out with
the full range of tasks on the boats, and in conservation initiatives on land too.
Last day: On the final day of your project you will be taken back to Cape Town for your onward
travel.
The price is 829, including the voluntary work programme with accommodations, airport transfers,
one night in a guest house in Cape Town, breakfasts daily and lunches when on the boats. Your trip can
be extended at a cost of 375 per week.
It is an amazing experience! Some volunteers planned to stay for 4 weeks, extended to 6 weeks and
still didn’t want to come home. If you’d like to chat about this holiday or need help, we’re very happy to
help.

B
My favorite book, The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, talks about a formula called “SFF”,which stands
for “stopping finding faults”. I used to be a critical person and tried to find faults. I guess I somehow
inherited this character from my father. Actually many good qualities of my father are worth admiring
except this.
My father is the person who constantly looks for mistakes in other people and he thinks no one is
perfect in the world. His character created a negative atmosphere in my family. I was the same as my
father, so I often felt angry, disappointed, depressed, and lonely in school.
After I had read my favorite book I began to seek “good things” in other people. It has completely
altered my life. Now I feel happier, I have more friends, I have more trust in people, and I realize
everyone has their own strength! Another important lesson I got from this book is that I should always
behave myself in a positive manner. Let's admit that we sometimes complain about our situation. That's
not good. “Believe it or not, people don't like to listen to negative opinions.”
One more valuable lesson I got from the book is that I should be a good listener. When I was
younger, I only wanted people to pay whole attention to my words so that I could show them how
important I was. I was very proud and would show off my achievements in school without considering
others' feelings. I had very few friends and most people considered me as an arrogant person. Now, I find
it much easier to make friends after making some changes!

It is quite apparent that competition surrounds every aspect of human life whether in the United
States or the Amazon rain forest. Without it we would not have grown into primates Or
we would probably still be struggling to sharpen a bronze tool while crawling around on four legs in
search of meat. Without competition, Columbus wouldn't have discovered America and Edison would
never have invented the light bulb.
The friendship, like all relationships between two people, involves competition. It isn't competition
in a traditional sense because there are no goals to be scored and no prizes. Perhaps the ecological
definition — the simultaneous (同时的 ) demand by two or more organisms for limited environmental
resources, such as nutrients, living space, or light — better explains it.
As in nature, high school life is governed by a set of laws, similar to a shortened version of Darwin's
theory of evolution, overpopulation, and competition. There is an abundance of high school students and
to distinguish them, ranking and categorizing (分类) take place. In high school, friendship coexists with
competition even though at times the relationship is rough. In fact, in some circumstances, competition is
too much of a burden for friendship to bear, causing it to fall apart. College admission is the final high
school objective. Four years of hard work is to achieve good grades, and a student's fate is determined
not only by these achievements, but by the records of thousands of other seniors trying to achieve similar
recognition.
Nevertheless, by necessity, competition between students exists in all aspects of high school life. It
sets and improves the standards in everything from sports to schoolwork. Healthy, friendly competition
can have only benefits, but when it becomes too fierce, jealousy (妒忌) can tear friendship apart. Yet,
despite all this, without competition, we would be lost.
28.What does the ecological definition mainly explain

D.They are divided into different groups.
30.Which best describes the relationship of friendship and competition
A.Friendship is always based on competition.
B.The degree of competition is vital to friendship.

D.Competition is a result of lost friendship.
31.What does the author think of “competition”?
A.The results of competition are out of control.
B.Competition becomes fiercer in high school.
C.Competition is certain to happen in high school.
D.Friendship is not as important as competition in high schools.

The next generation of artificial intelligence (AI) may be sitting right beneath you, at least if
furniture maker IKEA has any say in the matter. The Swedish furniture company's “future-living”
research lab in Copenhagen is conducting a survey to understand what people want when it comes to
smart furniture.
AI is now walking into more aspects of people's daily lives. Self-driving cars are just around the
corner, and AI robots can play and beat the best players of strategy games. As smart home technologies
have become more ubiquitous, products ranging from smart electrical outlets (电源插座 ) to smart
smoke alarms are flooding the market. Therefore, it's not surprising that IKEA would be moving in the
same direction.
Exactly why people would want their sofa or bed frame to speak to them, track their daily
movements or offer help is not yet clear. Though IKEA's new survey doesn't directly answer that
question, it does provide a hint of what people would feel comfortable with. Most participants wanted a
more human-like form of virtual (虚拟的) assistants, as opposed to one that is more robotic. In terms of
the ideal gender (性别 ) of the assistants, the most popular choice was neither male nor female. Few
wanted a religious form of AI.
Just as with human friends, most wanted AI friends that were like them, affirming their own world
view. They wanted an AI assistant that was reasonably intelligent — that could collect data to predict
what a person wanted before he or she asked, and that could prevent someone from making mistakes.
This is not the first time that IKEA has set foot in the field of futuristic technologies. In addition to
wireless charging tables and chainless bikes that never rust (生锈), the furniture giant has also pictured
smart kitchens that can cook the best meal. To decide on how intelligent you want your next sofa or
bookshelf to be, you can take IKEA's survey online.
32.What does the underlined word “ubiquitous” in Paragraph 2 mean
A.Beautiful. B.Common.
C.Normal. D.Environmental.
33.What does Paragraph 3 mainly talk about
A.The differences between robot-like and human-like assistants.
B.What form of AI assistants people want.
C.What kind of friends people want.
D.The popular robots on the market.
34.Most people who received the survey wanted an AI assistant that could ________.
A.help them become smarter
B.communicate with them without troubles
C.have its own world view
D.deal with their problems in advance
35.Which of the following products are from IKEA
A.Smart sofas that can speak to you.
B.Smart beds that can track your daily movements.

and work. It includes all your activities and experiences. Your schooling, your volunteer work, and even
your relationships with your family are all big parts of your career. __37__
During your career, you will have a variety of jobs, occupations and roles. People used to think of a
job as full-time, permanent, paid work done for an employer at a work site. But in our changing world, a
job is a set of duties or tasks. It can be paid or unpaid. 38 Even someone who is self-employed has
a job.
An occupation is a group of jobs with similar responsibilities that require a common set of skills.
39 Programmers may have permanent or temporary jobs working for specific employers, be
self-employed, work full-time or part-time, be paid for their work or volunteer their services. They may
change jobs or hold several jobs at one time but, until they change the type of duties or tasks they
perform, they are still computer programmers.
__40__ We all play a number of roles in our lives and our roles often change over time. For example,
Kris works four days a week as a receptionist in a clinic and takes evening courses in social work. She
also sews gymnastic wear for her neighbor who sells it at summer markets. Now Kris has at least three
roles.
A.A role is a part you play.
B.Actually everyone has a career.
C.In other words, your career is your life story.
D.For example, a computer programmer is an occupation.
AB.As a matter of fact, a job is different from a role in some way.
AC.It can be completed at a work site, at home, or somewhere else.
